Janelle Guthrie, APR, Fellow PRSA, provides strategic communications leadership as the Vice President of Communications for the Building Industry Association of Washington. Throughout her career, she has served in executive leadership and communications roles for Washington Attorneys General Rob McKenna and Bob Ferguson, Microsoft, the Washington State Senate and two state agencies. She served as PIO for the Department of Corrections’ Emergency Operations Center during the pandemic, co-managed national communications for the historic national mortgage settlement and led communications for Attorney General McKenna’s Pillars of Hope campaign to fight human trafficking. A Washington State University Murrow grad, with a double major in communications and political science, Guthrie serves on the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) National Board of Directors and has been honored with many awards, including the PRSA Lloyd. B. Dennis Award for national public affairs excellence, the Puget Sound Chapter Professional of the Year Award and the Hugh Smith Community Service Award.
