Cara Hawkins-Jedlicka, an assistant professor of practice at Washington State University’s Edward R. Murrow College of Communication, teaches a diverse range of communication courses after transitioning from industry in 2018. She serves as faculty advisor for WSU’s PRSSA while co-producing the award-winning oral history podcast Starting Line 1928, which won the 2024 Adam Jacobs Memorial Award for Online Excellence in track and field journalism. Through her work in academia and podcasting, Hawkins-Jedlicka continues to advance communication education while preserving important stories in sports history.
